Those 4.8s actually stand up to boost really well.
Plenty of guys putting down 15-18psi with stock mls gaskets and studs.
The walls are so thick on the 4.8 they actually do better than alot of the 5.3/6.0ls with alot of boost. And luckily 4.8s are ridiculously cheap

The 4.8 and 5.3 use the same block and share the same bore size (3.78).
The 4.8 is a long rod short stroke motor which enables it to take alot of abuse compared to the 5.3/6.0.\




Excellent choice to get the Galaxie back!

Good to know, didnt know they had the same bore on the 4.8/5.3(make sense though with the same block and different displacement though, )

Id love to do a mild single turbo setup on my 5.3 but the 4L60e wouldnt make it down the street with any real power

I have a 4L60e making 535/558 to the wheels in the GTO

John has a 4L65e in the wagon making 553/585 in his 4500lbs wagon

Both turbo 6 liters
