Dino's on Collins for sammiches. Mariano's off of 360 for Mexican food. The guy that owns it invented the frozen margarita/frozen marg machine, and also owns La Hacienda Ranch if you've ever been there. Marquez Bakery on Division has fresh daily flour tortillas, the best pork asado I've ever had, and the best, most fresh pico de gallo you will ever find. They also have decent barbacoa you can buy by the pound. I pick up a tub of pico and tortillas every two weeks or so. There is a really good catfish place on Division, west of Bowen, on the north side of division. I can't remember the name though. I want to say it's a red building. Birra Poretti in Lincoln Square for Italian.

A lot of people love bodacious BBQ on division, but I don't care for it. Also, for a $5 lunch, Angelo's is hard to beat. Its not the best or anything, but you get a huge portion of decent lasagna.North Main BBQ is in Euless, but it's not far. Great BBQ, but they are only open Friday and Saturday.

When me and my old lady both worked downtown we would hit the Downtown Marianos all the time. Amazed me it shut down....

My dad used to race with the old boys from Bodacious. The Tyler location is tons better than the Ag location....

Yes. The fajitas are pretty righteous. That's all I've ever had though.

              No, Arlington is the original.

Why do these restaurants end up not being as good as the original restaurant? They should have the same philosophy and recipes. And if they are in the same region, they should have the same materials and food to work with. More than likely a chef from the original would be at the new restaurant. It is hard to understand why they don't hold water to the original restaurant.

I never went to the one downtown, but that's odd. LHR and Mariano's are pretty damn similar. There are a few differences in the menu, but the fajitas at Mariano's and LHR are identical.

What happens is operators start looking to cut costs, because in their mind they have buying power the more places they open. Which is true to a point. But they look to cut costs anywhere they can. Whether that be management, lesser quality food product, etc; and it shows. There are some operators who absolutely, positively refuse to do this, but they are few and far between. Except chains of course.

Anyone tried Coker's Pit BBQ in Pantego off of Pioneer?

Cokers is okay. Nothing special. I drive further to get to Davids rather than go to Cokers, if that tells you anything.

You're talking about Catfish Sams. I only ate there once, thought the food was mediocre(might be being generous), and I brought down the average age of the patrons in that place by about 50 years.

Candlelight Inn on Division next to Bodacious is pretty good in my experience. Haven't been there in years though. Hell, I always forget it is even there.

As opposed to you Texans putting Ranch dressing on everything?

What about Texans who will fry ANYTHING? lol.

Soon people will dropping dead right there at Fair Park after eating from all the fried shit. Hahaha.

I passed by this place on the way home from CJ's and thought about posting a thread asking if it's a decent place... but I decided against a thread about it.

Is that your late night, after drinking party food of choice? In that situation I prefer JITB tacos, I don't know why, because they are gross, but I eat them after drinking. lol.
