I drive a 61 falcon, no a/c no heat, manual everything. Depends what you want out of it and how much you want to keep up and maintain it as the need arises.

What Ive learned, is as long as you have a backup plan you'll be fine. cars brake, old cars can be a bit harder to find parts for. So any time you need a part plan on it having to be ordered. parts stores don't stock the old stuff as much as they used to.

I daily drove my SS Chevelle for 5yrs straight. It was my first car, never had a problem with it. My A/C wasn't hooked up but it didn't bother me that much. I have 3:31 gears in the back so hwy driving wasn't bad either. I guess the only real problem I had was autozone rebuilt starters. They would go out like clock work about once a year. I guess they just couldn't handle turning over the BB all the time. Once gone over well there isn't much to get these old cars running well and reliable. I wouldn't do it again mainly because of the value.

I've been daily driving my '66 Chevy pickup since I got it tagged. Of course, I put a 5 speed and A/C in it, so it's a lot more comfortable to drive.

I drove it from Allen to Ennis and back yesterday and today without even so much as a hiccup. It gets a ton of looks and thumbs up too ! LOL !

Manual drum brakes and manual steering. It's not nearly as bad as it sounds. Besides, you get some exercise while driving it too !

Yep I was driving a 90 Bronco and always have a Moto or a old beater to drive as a back up plan. When I was in my mid 20's I restored and drove a 1979 Trans Am daily about 30 miles each way. My buddy had drug it out of a field where it had been sitting 10-15 years, called the bank that had a lean on it sorta, got the title, and then sold it to me. I cleaned out the tank, changed the oil and fired it up. Drove it for two years with not one issue other then the AC sucked.

A friend of mine DD'd a '66 stang, I think it was a '66 in highschool, but on hotter days he was in his moms '99 GT. Just depends on how much you're willing to sacrifice.

My dad dd's his '56 ford pickup and leaves his '08 ram at the house. He's 67 and loves it. You'll be fine. His isn't even restored. Bought it for $500 that he had won on a $5 scratch off and drove it across town to the house. Currently it is getting a new clutch but other than that it is still going with the rust spots and all.

I was DD my coupe for years. But it has A/C, power rack, tinted, big stereo, comfy seats. About as modern as you can get but with a carb. It's much more rewarding to drive an old car but it comes at a price.

Back in the day I used to roll my '98 without AC in the summer, as not to rob HP. Kids are dumb.

Call me spoiled, but I'd throw on A/C and fuel injection, and drive the wheels of an old 'Stang.
