Have had several requests out here, so figured I'd snap a few pics when I got it out today. Other than H&R coilovers it's all stock. I've got plans to do a shifter...B&M makes a nice one for these cars. Would like to do some exhaust as well. For looks I'm planning to drop the front just a little more and I'm considering a turbo/C4S front bumper cover....also been considering different wheels....something forged in a hyper-silver finish and 19's....would like to step the rears up to 305/30/19's. Currently has 285/35/18's on the rear with quite a bit of room to grow.

Good looking cars. My father in law has an 08 carrera s and I love it. I keep asking him when he's going to take me for a ride and he says, "hell, I'll let you take it for a while". But we never seem to get to it, lol. Sweet ride though.04 2.6 KB'd Cobra!

The turbo 996's weigh a little more but they also make about 100 more hp stock and AWD.

Thanks to you, and your other post, I have been toying with the idea of an early 200x 911....
Read this - http://www.lnengineering.com/buyingausedporsche101.pdf
The 996's really are great cars but they do have an achilles heel that anyone thinking on buying one should be aware of....intermediate mainshaft (IMS) bering failures. The bering is upgradable and LN Engineering makes a really nice upgrade kit. Interestingly enough when you do some reasearch you'll find that lower mileage cars are more prone to it than higher mileage ones. The best bet is to try to buy one that has already had the upgrade or else figure the cost into your purchase price and plan on doing it proactively...the kit is $700 and if you are going to have it done figure on about $1500-$1800 parts and labor. IMS failures result in total engine failure >50% of the time, and a good long block for one of these things is stupid expensive.
The guys on forums like 6-speed online and rennlist put a lot of hype around this deal...more-so than necessary I think, but even still there are some figures out there that say roughly 8-10% of all 996's have or will experience this failure....considering how many of these cars were built that's a lot. They also say that the 99-01' 3.4 engines are more prone to it as well.
The turbo cars are a different design and they don't have the issue....so another good reason to buy one!70' Chevelle RagTop

I love the 997's...going back to the oval headlights and the interior is awesome! I could see myself upgrading into one of those after this one....they'll have to come down in price a little more tho.
