Thanks POSYj, it isn't anywhere near done but its getting there.

50cj, if you're thinking about going to KOH you need to go. It may be the last event at the hammers as the marines at 29 palms want to turn Johnson valley into a bomb range. Bring lots of beer and most importantly WARM clothes it can drop down into the teens, remember this is in Feb!!

I think the flashpaq helped but it wasn't a HUGE diff.

Mines a rubicon so it crawls nice in 4lo with the 4:1 case. I might do the rubicrawler eventually, I do miss dual cases.

I'm not gonna spend a fucking dime on the motor, when its paid off I'm putting a lsx in.

I've had similar thoughts in regards to spending money on the motor. I would like to do a 4bt in one. However, in the end I will most likely stick with this motor.

I've never been to KOH but I'm considering going next year. Anything I need to bring you recommend?
Did I mention I like guns too? haha

KOH - man, where to start...I've been the last 2 years, 1st year was with a friends 5th wheel, last year we rented a motorhome. logisitics can be a pain when you have 5-6 rigs, 8-10 guys, plus sleeping arrangements....

        Things to bring:

GOGGLES! - when the winds pick up, its very dusty! you will wear them around camp even...and of course, the dirt gets EVERYWHERE.

as tribaltalon mentioned - it can get cold at night....temps can range from 80's and sunny to 20's or 30's at night..pack accordingly. I have pics of me wheelin in my carhartt and others in t shirts....

Regarding the other items you need to bring:

Its probably 45 minutes each way from the lakebed to town (yucca valley). There is a gas station in Landers that has some basics, but to get anything major (restaurant, auto parts, etc) you need to goto yucca...and are required by LAW to bring back fastfood and ice for everyone in your group lol.

We tried to just stay all week...brought a grille that was expendable and bought a freezer off CL that we loaded with ice and frozen food, had 80 gallon fuel cell for generators, rigs, etc. bought firewood from one of the locals that rolls thru and basically tried to be self sufficient for the week.

Bring trashbags...its CA and the greenie nazis will be on ya..."pack it out"...basically and tie it up...with the strong winds the trash can get tossed around pretty bad...

Keep your stuff locked up and secure as best you can. Its not the wheelers you need to worry about as much as it is the locals...

I am probably forgetting 100 different things, but those are the highlights..

and if you havent mapped it...its 24 hrs door to door from DFW...

My big debate is how long we are gonna stay. Most of my friends are flying in Monday but I'm thinking about leaving early weds morning and getting there Thursday and stay for the race and go to Vegas sat. I won't be able to do anything real crazy as the jeep will have to make it the 1500 miles home.

I bought this a few week ago. 98, Auto with 110k that was pulled behind an RV. It will be the last one I build so I am doing it right I almost bought another V8 YJ with 14/60 set up but wanted better ride qualities and AC. Probably going to Sinister Highline it,OME lift, 8.8, ARB's, and Hummer H1's recentered. I want to keep it very road friendly but capable. Plus my knees are not digging tall rigs anymore. LOL If I wanted bigger I would just build a buggy.

past 2 years we have left the thursday of the week before the race and stay all week...roll home saturday after the race and arrive home sunday..gives us almost a week of playing and a few days of "business"..

If you can spare the extra time going early has another benefit...the weekend prior to KOH is the Parker 425...very cool to see the TT's and Class 1's..

camera battery died so I only had my crappy BB for pics..

Sweet find dude I've always liked that color with some black body armor to accent it. What's the game plan?

I updated it. I hate that color, I am going to do another, but enhanced military themed one. This was one of my favorites but taller then I want now.

nice..my wife would never be game for camping that long. LOL. Once we get closer to the date I'm gonna see who's driving their jeeps out there, sure would be cool to get a caravan of modded junk driving out there.

I have a very similar pic of my middle child, at that age, sitting in my '77 CJ-5, snapped about 10 years ago.

blech.. i'm tired of "milspec" TJ's. its more unique nowdays to see wheelers with uncommon factory paintjobs. keep it dude. this is one of my favorite JK's, looks bitching with that color and the body armor.

Been making some progress on mine. Sinister hi line kit, bumper and 35's. It has a 1.75 budget lift that is going to either get dumped or swapped for an OLD Man EMu 2 inch lift.
