Well I remember from Red October that they called the typhoons boomers so thats why I was guessing that.

Correct me if im wrong but the Los Angeles Class attack submarines are city names (Dallas, Houston, Santa Fe, etc) they have the diving planes on the sail. I think the later submarines built for the Los Angeles Class have vertical tomahawk missile launchers, and I know tomahawks can be used as a nuke. I do know that all Los Angeles class attack submarines can fire tomahawk missiles out of the torpedo tubes.

The Virginia Class is named after states as well, and I guess they can still be used as a nuke boat cause they also can carry tomahawk missiles.

The Seawolf Class only has a few boats I think, I guess they cut that program I guess. I dont know what they are armed with. If I had to guess its probably both torpedo's and tomahawks.

tomahawks can be used to carry nukes but due to a treaty they do not have any configured that way(at least to the general public's knowledge).

there were a total of 62 LA class subs built, the first 39 had dive planes on the sail, the last 23 had them on the bow and i think they could retract them into the boat...dont quote me on that though
