don't get me wrong, I love having 500rwhp with nothing but a tune, but I'm about at the point of not even caring anymore
Not really a fan of common rail but if you take care of em then they aren't so bad. I have a 07 6.7 and not a problem. Of course it has the egr delete, exhaust filter delete, and a Smarty but regular Sea Foam and some 2 cycle oil has done me good. Makes a shit ton of torque. Never thought that I would own a friggin Dotch but I love this truck. 18-20 mpg in a 4-door dually and it will pull a house smooth off the foundation if I need it to.

But there would always be that little concern in the back of my mind.

whereas the LSx family has been around for almost 15yrs!!! I would have ZERO concerns taking a brand new GM vehicle with an LS engine in it and modding it from the get go.

If I would have been in my 30's back when the old 302/351 were still current, I would have felt the same way about them.

They're good engines, they're cheap as hell to build or replace, etc.

Like I said, I'll probably end up with a diesel again, but I've been eyeing these GM gassers lately.

FWIW, I am going to be buying a $2-3k beater car also
Everytime I go to the ford dealer I see a cab off of a 6.4. This is a small dealer too, but they service a lot of oil field trucks.

Last week they were putting a short block in one due to a oil leak. It was leaking between the two piece block, and a 9k mile truck was getting a shortblock. Second one this small dealer has done. They have two used 6.4 trucks on the lot, both 08's, both owners got a gasser after the whole fuel system got replaced after the HPFP did it's thing.

My current 6.4 is my last daily diesel for sure. The maintenance on the new 6.7 is absurd. I hate changing fuel filters every 10k miles.

I'd really like to find a clean lower mile 5.9 while I'll still can. I need to fix a couple dents in my 06 5.9 and sell it for a dually 4wd.

When did they start putting the 6.2 in a non denali truck? I knew about the vortech max but didn't know they made a 2wd crew cab 6.2 truck. That would make a sweet rig.

No, he does not race. That is why i was hitting you up on the track times. It's a 4 x 4. So 2 wheel drive on normal driving. Those are supposed to be faster than the Jap trucks, So I was wondering what kind of times they put down. This is the best my truck has done with just a drop in K&N filter. No program.

                  1/8th mile ........9.142
                  MPH................75.28

Apprx 5300 lbs DC jap truck.

David (Cobrajet69?) got me by half a truck with his Denali with a program. They ran about the same, but he got me out of the hole. The one wheel peel I have is a little tough to get off the line some times. Plus I had a full tank of gas.

'10 it looks like, 09 was the last year for the 6.0/Vortec Max(in the silverados), 09 Seirras had the option for 6.2s

May sneak out to Crandall tonight and make a pass or two. I'm gonna get to a stopping point on the truck and finish the Nova. I'm ready to drive it!

If you take the truck, let us know how it does. Not sure which vehicle you were taking....

yeah, that's what I figured after I posted...

Are they doing performance builds on the 6sp autos? I'm guessing they're high $$?
