Yeah, so I just read that entire thread. I was never a huge monster truck fan, but it's a helluva story. Thanks for posting that.

wow i just spent a couple hours reading all 47 pages. Kind of sad that he was around in the very beginning, racing Bigfoot and Gravedigger and all those guys on a shoestring budget but never got the opportunities to make it big like those guys did. Now he works at a CarQuest??!? That guy seriously needs to write a book and/or have a documentary made for Discovery or history channel or something, that was much more interesting and REAL to read then all the usual monster truck guys that have unlimited budgets and sponsors out the ass. At least maybe then he'd get a decent paycheck for all that crap he went through through the years.

What a story. I'm falling back in love with those late 70's early 80's ford trucks. They just looked awesome. Time for a new project.

Awesome thread, seeing the pictures of the shows around 93 really brought back memories of going when I was a kid. I remember several of the trucks in the pictures, mainly snakebite, BigFoot, Kool Bus and Gravedigger. That was back when the main show was the tractor pulls and the moster trucks were the side show here in Odessa.

Yea he has lived a pretty amazing life as a gearhead and in the hay day of monster trucks but after reading all those pages I'm guessing he got screwed at a lot at these events, shitty promoters, maybe a divorce, and I'm guessing alcohol problems. Mostly people got rich off him and his truck.

All of big names like "bigfoot" started out just like him and as the sport grew so did the technology in they're vehicles and he never grew with the sport, why? Maybe he didn't have the sponsors but something about the story is missing a few key plots!

Nowadays the sport has practically died out and only the big names who made their money off licensing and trademarks still exist and are still making all the serious money.

I know one thing reading his story reminds me of wrestlers! I watched "Beyond the Mat" over the weekend on netflicks. lol...

probably because of the shitty ass name he gave that truck...

that and his love of shitty old gasser tow rigs. He probably never got sponsors because he was unreliable at making events.

i can only imagine how freakin dangerous it was towing that monster truck across the country with a 1979 1 ton ford dually

I remember seeing that truck on monster jam when I was a kid. He always got his ass kicked.

I really enjoyed the read, thanks

I kinda thought the same thing, he's clearly behind the times from the start - but somewhere in that thread he mentions never bieng late to a show in 23 years or somethign like that...

I did wonder how he made it in all these shows when everyone was running blown BBC's etc.. and he's using a near stock 428. That and he appears to not be real knowledgable on mechanics.. he says some off the wall shit in that thread.

Regardless, you have to admire is will to make something work.
