My Custom 501st Legion Clone SW iPhone Case

After my first custom Star Wars case:

I decided to do another one.

Modeled after this:


Got a plain white case.


Masked off the design.


Painted it with a satin blue rattle can.



Used some tape to pull off chunks of the blue and then sprayed satin clear over the whole thing.


This writeup is for the 1 or 2 other guys that would appreciate it, and the dozens of others that want to shout "nerd!" from the mountain top, lol.

Yeah, I wasn't really trying to. Depending on your reference, there are a few different wear patterns to these guys. Just going for the spirit of the thing. Plus, as it wears, it'll get more of the small detail scratches.

What is the texture of the paint when it is dry? I rattle canned an old phone case and it was was blatantly obvious I used spray paint. It also felt somewhat tacky to the touch.

I have quite a bit of experience in texturing for realism. Have you conidered adding some browns and blacks to the white? It will give it consider more detail.
