Yeah, but that cop didn't even try as soon as the bike turned the corner. Just seemed like he was only "running him off".

I absolutely agree there. I in no way doubt that the Dallas no pursuit policy is broken every day.

I know that there are departments that only allow 2 cars to be in "pursuit" but there are 5 other cars running parallel to the chase that may as well be in pursuit.

I used to run a lot from 99-01. Maybe a little less in 02 and by mid 03 I was pretty much done with it.

The story of my first chase on a bike was anything but impressive. I was a senior in high school on my bestfriend's race bike (Canadian salvage title, full race bodywork, no tail light, no head light, no nothing, lol) and I ran because I knew it had a Canadian salvage title and figured there was no way that we could get it out of impound. I damn sure couldn't afford to buy him another 4 or 5k bike. So I took off. I had so much adrenaline rushing through my body that I ended up DRY-HEAVING during the chase. Anything but bad ass, lol. I was in shorts and a t-shirt. How I didn't crash (I high sided on an over-pass, racking the shit out of myself in the processs, hanging onto the bars for dear life) hurt someone else or kill myself I'll never know. It certain't wasn't because of innate skill, just dumb luck.

As the years went on and the chases racked up I got pretty comfortable with it. On city streets sometimes I went fast-ish to make some distance, sometimes I went s-l-o-w, but I never ripped it. Too much can go wrong. Keep some distance, make it to the freeway, and get ghost.

What I was saying, you can hear him try to shift to 7th, lol. I'm no stuner, cannot do circle wheelies, nothing like that, but years and years ago I started counting every shift in my head. I figure to do circles you've got to be pretty calm, but the red&blues changed everything. He panicked and wasn't thinking. Otherwise he would've known he was out of gears.

      From around here?

I'm not trying to encourage anyone to run, but if you're going to do it, I like to try and tell guys to be smart about it. You want to make distance as quickly as possible, but without riding at 101%. If you're pushing yourself you risk crashing. If you crash not only do you risk injury/death, but you're certainly not getting away. You're much faster, brake much better, and potentially corner much faster, you can get away absolutely without having to ride beyond your limits.

Go slow and concentrate and you'll go fast.

Sorry to hear man, it happens. My two closest friends in this world have died. One was a total accident, one was due to motorcycle misbehavior.

Kinda like when street racing laws got tough in Plano, and I decided that it wasn't worth it, if I knew that stunting could cost me my bike, I wouldn't do it.

Shit. I grab seventh when I am cruising along on a nice day, let alone running from a cop. Thats with counting.... lolz The first bike I had though I rode it enough I knew when I was in 6th just by the RPM and speed I was travelling.

I listened to it again and I heard it that time...

I've got 2 down on the front sprocket and three up on the rear, and I've tried to pull 7th more than a few times on a single cruise. heh The RPM's are up there on the highway.

Two down up front, yeesh, AND some up on the rear!

What do you top out at, 130?

Down 1 and plus 3 has been MEGA to me. Down 2 and plus 3 must be nuts, easy wheelies in any gear at the flick of the wrist!

Yep, just a touch under 135. I should have bought an R1, but the R6 is alot more fun around town, being a bit lighter. The gearing helped to get my 220lb ass moving from a stop.

Do legislators think when they write a law? If you know you're going to lose your property (regardless of what it is) then the fighting chance of keeping it comes into play. Stupid law that has blatant consequences.

The legislators are just lawyers who don't think about the consequences of a law. Like passing a law saying X, when X isn't in the budget to pay for it.

back when i lived in weatherford in 04ish, i used to cruise to dallas meets going through dfw at 120mph or so, and had a couple small chases but my scariest moment was when once at night when i had been lit up by a trooper but i was already LONG gone, and i took an exit that hooked left over i20 at over 160 mph, and then realized oohhhhh shit i dont think i can make this 40 mph curve. that was the first time i ever dragged a footpeg and i honestly have no idea how i made it through the corner (i had no track experience at that time) The whole time i was positive i was going to end up wiping out and/or hitting the guardrail and going for a 50-75 foot superman ride/death. After that i kept the speeds at a much more reasonable rate and never had to run and saved the dumbassery for the track.
