Many departments have a no-pursuit policy with bikes. Which seems silly to me. Almost encourages people to run.

I can see why they don't chase.

At the same time, why run? You are risking your life and if you do get caught, identified or whatever you just upgraded a misdemeanor to a felony..

I can see it if they are doing 100+ on the highway or overly reckless, but not even initiating a chase seems lame to me.

As I said, it seems like they are encouraging bikes to run when they have a publicized non-pursuit policy.

But I agree on not running. I don't see a scenario where it is worth the risk to run.

Youtube link - slightly better quality and no NWS junk

Vid has been around a couple years, swear I've seen a better quality one, but maybe I'm wrong

That was in Daytona, well, the rider is from Daytona, not sure if that was actually in Daytona or not. Anyways, they definitely chase bikes. Florida has pretty serious laws about seizure of motorcycles for "stunting" so no one stops. You even think a cop is looking in your direction you better haul ass or risk the gov't taking your property.

That guy on the bike was probably doing 100 in 5-6 seconds. The cop wouldn't have been a block by then. lol

A lot of stunters are A) broke & B) on some clapped out pile of shit with a salvage title or lien against it that's not being paid.

They're going to go to jail and get their bike impounded if they stop, so I figure that's why they take the gamble. You posted this before I posted my previous post, but where he's at the gov't will take your bike from you if you stop, no motherfuckin' reason to stop in that case! lol

Either way, I've known of plenty of people who've been chased by departments with "no chase" policies. Not saying he didn't make his own choices, but Preston Cass died running from Police with a no-chase policy. He collided with an innocent motorist who luckily was unharmed.

DPD said they weren't chasing, maybe it's some legalese bullshit, but sending half a dozen cruisers down the road at triple digit speeds with lights on chasing motorcycles sounds like a chase to this laymen.

I suppose they claim they weren't chasing to absolve themselves from any responsibility for breaking policy in any possible lawsuit from the innocent motorist that was hit.

Here's how I see it. People aren't supposed to break the law, cops aren't supposed to break policy, both happen. Rider or Officer, they're both human.

Yeah. He was probably doing 120+ and in a city street like that is fucking stupid imo.. All you need is a jaywalker, someone to turn onto that street or any mishap and it would end badly.

Adrenaline gets the best of us sometimes.
