Early this spring, I was at our stock tank and heard a frog making a weird chirping sound. Went and looked and the frog's head was above water but a water snake was in the process of eating him from under the water. I got my .22 and shot the snake just below the water line. In the process of dying, the snake spit the frog out. The frog swam away. Ha-ha bad day to be a snake!

I hates me some water snakes.

Cottonmouths are usually a solid color, and usually a VERY dark brown/black. We had a 6 foot long cottonmouth living inside the walls of our stone house in New Jersey. House was built in 1922, and was long uninhabited before we moved in, so we were frequently finding undesirable room mates after we moved in.

Not true. A cottonmouth living in Jersey is going to look quite a bit different than one from Texas. Also, the older the cottonmouth the darker it will get. A younger snake will have alot more colors and the bands will be very obvious.
