Thanks, Being a WWII history buff I would have a rough time there without some sort of breakdown at some point.

Had a hard time at the Punchbowl in HI.

            Thanks again.

Hey CJ your other half said that you got to see the Day of Bastille Military Parade. Post some of those! Also when abouts do you get to London? God I wish I had a type of professional camera. The shots and views I have seen would have been marvellous to be captured in a good camera.

I took a photo of Teddy Roosevelt's son's grave when I was there.

A view of some of the defensive positions overlooking the beaches, which are now the overgrown backyards of the houses right there on the beach.

A *massive* fragment of a demolished bunker tossed out by what could only be a BIG explosion.

Me inside one of the impact craters around Point Du Hac.

I have a question, in the movie saving privaite ryan did they film at normandy or was that a different set? This is by far the thread of the year, great photos and lots of history.

They filmed the beach scenes in Ireland, and pretty much everything else in England, unless Google is trying to trick me.

If you go to the bier garten in Munich you might experience piss warm great tasting beer. It happened to me, so it might be different for you this year, but since they keep them in oak barrels I have no idea for the temperature.

I swore that I would never set foot in France, but this thread could make me eat my words. There are several cemetaries dedicated to the allied forces throughout Europe and some specific to the US forces. All that I have seen are nothing less than top notch and cared for with pride. I know we get shit from a lot of the world, but when you see places like this, you know there is an everlasting, undying appreciation for what our heroes did.

You should go there just on principle alone, just to visit those places. It's what I am going to do. I have no interest seeing anything else there.

Reminds me of the joke of the old American that goes to France and the French demand a passport. The old man says the last time he was in France he had no passport. The Frenchman says you silly American, a passport has always been required. The old American replies "the last time I was in France was 1944 and you weren't checking passports".

Thanks for the pics CJ. Is that lens insured? Hint-hint.
