Hoogerland (in the fence) had to get 33 stitches. Luckily the next day was a rest day and now he's back in it.

I'm not real into this shit, but for some reason I got sucked in over the weekend for one stage of it. Everything was mostly uphill and the guys were really making a run for it!
All the cars and motorcycles driving around made me a little curious as to why the organizers would allow them to be so close to the riders. Although they didn't hit anyone while I was watching, they came close on multiple occasions. If I was a rider, then I would have a real concern! Especially after seeing these pictures of a guy tossed into a barb'd wire fence.

25 miles to those guys is merely a warm-up to keep the lactic acid from settling in the legs so they can go tomorrow.
