My Custom X-Wing iPhone case

Don't act surprised. Y'all already know I'm a Star Wars nerd.

Started with this, which I didn't really like because it only took a couple weeks for it to look beat up.


Sanded it down.


Taped off the rubber parts.


I forgot to take a picture of the first coat of argent, a silvery-metallic. This is the next layer of light gray primer.


Taped off the wing markings and hit it with red.


Here it is after several coats of satin clear coat. I weathered it by rubbing on some powdered graphite and used tape to pull off bits of the primer, revealing the argent. I also put the edge of a metal ruler on it and pulled it down, revealing argent paint and making it look like a panel joint.


Final product.


All of this was done with rattle can spray paint, 320 & 1500 grit sand paper and some tape. For those that care (which I'm sure is nobody, lol) this is Red 3, Luke's mustachioed buddy Biggs that got shot down by Darth Vader at the end of the original movie, A New Hope.

Oh, that's easy! If you grew up on films 4-6, you didn't know shit about Jango, and you idolized Han, so Jango had this crazy sense of dread about him, because he was the only dude that could catch who had been the baddest motherfucker in A New Hope. It was shocking, and you kept expecting Han to get away, but then nope, carbonite! After that, if you were a Star Wars fan, and you wanted to identify with a bad guy, but not Vader, Boba was the obvious choice.
