I might...just not sure what I want to do yet. I have some things changing with my job that might mean that I will be commuting a lot more than I do currently, and with the distance I live it may make sense for me to go back into a diesel...not just for the MPG but b/c of the amount of miles I'll be racking up on whatever I'm driving.

I know the EB is certainly an improvement over the 5.4, but from what I've been reading it doesn't appear that it is a whole lot better....right?

$28K. I think that's going to be a really short window on these 5.4 trucks too....b/c once some 11's start hitting used lots no one is going to want one of these older power plants.

I actually didn't take it over there to get a quote either...we were over there looking at a car for my wife last week and I figured what the hell, it doesn't cost anything....I'd have them give me a quote while we were out test driving. I was kind of thinking they would hit me around $23-$24K, but was shocked when he came back at $28K. After that I went home and submitted for a quote with Grapevine Ford and they came back at barely over $22K!

I talked to Reid about it on Saturday and he was advising pretty strongly that I go sell it to them and then come back and talk to him again about a Mustang like I was thinking before, or step into an EB truck.

I think regardless....I'm probably going to take it back over there this week and let them have it. No way I could get that for it anywhere else. I was looking through the paper yesterday and saw where there was a dealer that still has some new 10's...they were advertised at $27,980 on a Lariat SCrew...so someone can go get a new one for the same that Carmax is offering me.

Jason.. my FX2 with premium package was $1500 more than what carmax is offering you. I dont drive like a bat out of hell...Im pretty easy on my truck and I averaged 17mpg on the first tank. This next one will be 18-19 by my guess because of more highway driving. Its a damn nice truck with all the bells and whistles (leather, backup cam, memory seats, tailgate step, etc). I think the only big option that I know of is the Lariat has cooled seats.

Yeah, those cooled seats are nice, but certainly nothing I can't live without. I assume you do have heated seats, just not cooled? I have a sunroof in mine too, wasn't something I had to have, but finding that I do like it now. Do you have the tow package with integrated brake controller and sway control? Power sliding rear window?

I found a used set of weathertech for a good price. Its a work truck but I rather have a good set of floor mats then ones at pepboys.

Heated seats, power rear window and remote start. Its all in the 'luxury' package. The truck has the towing with sway control but no brake controller. The brake controller can be added for $140 and it needs to be enabled by the dealership with the dealer tool. Im hoping that Grapevine Ford can hook it up with the activation of the controller (have a cousin in service). Cooled seats would be great but even when its 105* outside, my seats dont get very hot. Hoping a sunshade will help as well.

edit/// The brake controller part number for anyone with a late 2010 or 2011 is BL3Z2C006AA and is $95 from Tascaparts.com which is 10% over cost.

Good to know.... I bought mine beginning of March this year as one of the last 2010's on the lot. I got it for $28.5k after all rebates, so I felt pretty good about it.

The mileage is killer, but considering I work from home and what I do drive I get to expense makes it a bit easier to disregard.

I bought mine late last year for a little bit more than that...it was just before the 11's were hitting the lots and I suppose timing wasn't the greatest but I was so frustrated with continuous issues with my old truck that I was just done and ready for something new at the time.

I've worked from home for a long time now as well, only have to go over to my office about 4-5 times a month so I really wasn't too concerned about fuel economy much when I bought this thing, however just in the last few weeks I learned that I am being put in line for a promo opportunity that will likely mean I have to start commuting a lot more often....it's about 75 miles round trip which isn't too bad, but that's still going to add-up a lot at 13-14 mpg. On the flip side, spending that much time on the road sure is a lot easier in comfort like one of these trucks.

I'd say it's quite a bit better, given the numbers you've been seeing with the 5.4. But, it is still a half ton truck after all. Ecoboost just seemed like the logical choice to me, if you love everything about the truck but the fuel mileage. I'd love to get a new Ecoboost right now, personally.

You know, people always love to bash Carmax. I've had pretty good luck with them. We got quite a bit more for my ex wife's Mini S than I thought we could sell it for privately. Same thing with her Jetta, and they offered more than I paid for it, and we had it for a year or more.

Oh, and as for the cooled seats.... You don't think you need it, but once you get them, you'll never go back. A former coworker bought a 2010 4x4 Lariat. Those cooled seats are fucking heavenly, especially here in the TX Heat. It's like a broad sucking on your balls with ice in her mouth.

Actually, if you read that thread in depth, it seems some of the F150's have the same problem. Though yes, he's an ass. A dumbass.

dont abuse a truck and you shouldnt have to worry about it.

Agreed, but using a truck like a truck should be used, could very easily be deemed "abuse" by a stealership. Anything they can do, to get out of paying a warranty claim.

No kidding... a few weeks ago my dad was in my truck on a hot day in shorts and he didn't know I had cooled seats. I very stealthily turned his on. About 5 minutes later he said aloud, "Son, why are my balls cold?"
