Got a dumb question. Why is it called a 1M and not a M1? All the other M models put the letter first, Mcoupe, M3, M5, M6. Just wondering

What about the X5M and the X6M? Those numbers come before the m.

MX5 MX6 sounds like a mazda now, and the reason BMW also stop using the IS after the numbers is because lexus wanted to be them so bad and called there car after it IS300 is350 and so on.... the M1 story is also correct.... kinda like the gt40 and ford gt story
