this shit isnt iconic. Its a gilded façade of something that isnt. The arabs in Dubai see what a shithole their country is with all that sand blasting in your ass with 140 degree heat. They want to make it appealing but in reality its nothing but a sandhole. Its not Iconic because it hasnt been there for a long time and its not a symbol of power. its a symbol of wealth and that can never be iconic.

I got to say that I realy hate Dubai. It is HOT, no matter what time of the day; it is fucking HOT. Sand; they have so much that you have to ask, "why would anyone want to LIVE here?" The whole Emirates was built by imigrant workers that are treated like slaves and the construction continues today. My last trip through I got a chance to chat with my cab driver on the way to the airport. He explained the decrease in traffic is a direct result to Dubai being out of money and construction coming to a halt.

Now in all fairness, I am impressed with some of the shit they have come up with, even if most of it was designed and built by foreigners.

I dig the "largest crucifix in the Arab world"......if it is true. Maybe when i go through in September I should ask at the hotel's gated entrance.
