I think it is one that doesn't get it. NASA has usually had support from both parties because it was an American thing, not a party thing. But Obama seems to view anything that we are pioneers at as needing to be punished.

The apparent incredible mismanagement that led to that collider site being closed makes me want to vomit. The fact that it still sits empty right now makes me want to buy it and turn it into my own personal fun land

You are aware that GW shut down the Shuttle program. Obama is just sticking with that plan.

Frankly GW was right to phase out STS. It is over priced and a helluva lot more dangerous that is needs to be. The only problem is that GW didn't put a good replacement plan in place. The one that he did put in place (aka Constellation) was ill conceived and underfunded.

I have never been a fan of Obama, but his plans for NASA are actually pretty smart in the long term.
