And, they have no idea what is causing that and where its is going
That's most likely the inlet for the in ground over-flow gate just below it, which is probably just to the lower left of that picture. They usually don't need to drain near that flow of water, so it's usually imperceptible at the surface.

No, it is way up river , officials have no idea what the cause is yet

Lake Oahe is a bigggggg sob

Lake Oahe spans 231 miles from Pierre, the capital of South Dakota, to Bismarck, the capital of North Dakota and is surrounded by mixed grass prairie with trees growing down to the shore in occasional steep draws. Lake Oahe is the 14th-largest man-made reservoir by volume in the world

I go down that stretch of highway to home couple times a year , wonder about the powerplants along the river ?

They are increasing the amount of water let out, Fort Peck is opening the spillway for the 1st time in 36 years

From the information I hear, it is going to go on thru late fall and they expect the flood waters to continue to rise .

                  Many homes, gone already.

Fort Calhoun, NE - OPPD declares notification of unusual event at the Fort Calhoun Nuclear Power Station.

In a news release, OPPD says quote, "notification of unusual event indicates events are in process or have occurred which indicate potential impacts to the plant."

It's important to note the reactor remains shut down for re-fueling and is not a threat to neighbors.

We're also told in the news release, "no release of radioactive material" has happened or is expected.

Currently OPPD is using sandbags, temporary dams and water pumps to hold the Missouri River back. As we saw first hand today, the flood already on plant property, is just getting higher

I'm sure they would never lie to us , right ?

Sunday I was driving home from North Dakota, they already had I-29 diverted to I-680 and I-80 in iowa.

The river runs right next to I-29 in Sioux City, that was an absolutley incredible sight. I have never seen anything like that before. There was a house/building close to the river that they built up ... dikes I guess ... all around it. They had tons of people on the other side of the highway at the convention center making sandbags.

I hope those people make it out alive.
