  • Finally starting on my latest project

I am finally starting the work on my 67 Cougar project. It is going to be a 427W 5 speed combo. I have included a rough photoshop of the color combo I am going with. The finished product will be a metallic finish on both colors. I found a lot more wrong with the quarters than I was hoping for considering you can't get new quarters for the 67/68s. There will be a lot of handmade patches in order to remove the rust and excessive bondo that is there now. I will try to keep the thread updated as I move through the project. The first pictures are of the car before I started working on it.

I am not a fan of the orange, but that looks like a fun project.

And I am disappointed. These are G rated pics.

The orange is way off, I couldn't get close to the color orange it is in photoshop, not enough skills in that department.

Never fear, I already updated several threads in the NSFW forum.

They're cheap to pick up, but not cheap when it comes to Cougar specific parts. Mechanicals are basically all Mustang though.

Lusk, looks good. i always like the way Cougars look done in orange, with a black top.

Is it more of a burnt orange? Along the lines of sunburst metallic? That should look amazing.

Sweet. I like the looks of the later models better but I will be watching this thread.

Yeah, it leans toward burnt orange. The color is called Bright Metallic Orange, but I think they missed a little on the name. I found some bigger paint chips and edited the post above.

If anyone has the photoshop skills to put the colors from the paint chips on the car for me, that would be greatly appreciated.

Update. Patched several of the rust holes today. Hoping to work on it some more tomorrow.

That seems like a lot of work, good luck and I hope it comes out just like you want it.

Love the car, and it looks like a great starting point. I can't say I like the colors at all though. I'm also not sure I could do a modern two tone on that car.

A blacked-out grill on that car would be tits. Or using black chrome paint on it. Nice little project.
