A friend of mine is a physician at St Johns Medical Center there in Joplin. He lost his 3yr old son and his mother-in-law who was babysitting. I cannot imagine what he is going through. He told me that there are at least 50 patients missing that were patients in the hospital that were sucked into the vortex as it went over the hospital...the top two floors are gone. He isnt sure where he and his wife go from here...he was their only child.

We had about 30 employees lose everything, and 6 died. We've got 3 plants in the Joplin area, and I think everyone's assessment in the company is that we're lucky we didn't fare worse than we have. This is a big damn mess.ZOMBIE REAGAN FOR PRESIDENT 2016!!! heh

I was able to venture out a bit today and survey some of the damage. I have never, ever seen anything like this in my life. The pictures don't it justice, because it's doesn't give a wide enough view. As far as you can see, it is complete and utter destruction. It looks like someone went through with a giant bulldozer that's a mile wide and took out everything in its path. Cars are everywhere crushed like aluminum cans. NOTHING in the path of this tornado survived.
What's cool is there are American flags flying everywhere, and people lining the streets waving at cars passing by. Seeing the destruction, and the optimistic outlook by the residents here brought a tear to my eye.
God bless Joplin, MO.Last edited by UserX; 05-29-2011, 03:50 PM.
