Say what you will about him, he & VH changed the face of R&R in the late 70's/early 80's. His voice hooked me the first time I heard it.

I'm a HUGE old school VH fan. Recently I built an exact replica of Ed's "frankenstein" strat. The paint was extremely challenging but it's a perfect match!

i got to see them on their debut tour here in Dallas. they warmed up for Black Sabbath and did their first album in order except for Ice Cream Man. it was cool because that was the hottest album at the time and everyone knew it in order. so after the second song you knew what was coming next.

side note... that was Ozzy's last tour with Sabbath before he went solo.

                        what a cool first concert.

Once Roth was gone they went all sappy/sobby/ballad/mainstream with Hagar. Like Metallica after the black album came out, all my friends who didn't know a thing about VH were all the sudden their biggest fans. As a long time fan it was almost nauseating. I liked Hagar, in Hagar bands, but in VH he sucked. Roth is one of a kind and put on a hell of a show.

Here is the replica guitar I built. Fender want's $18 grand for this custom shop model, so I made my own. The aging process and paint was a PITA!
