and this isn't motown, but for some reason this thread made me think of it:

        and semi-related, Cee-Lo Green has a nice Neo-Motown sound:

That Gnarls Barkley album was pretty decent.

For oldies, I love this song

this will quickly devolve into a stream-of-consciousness old music thread if you dont stop.

your post made these two pop in my head:

            But back on track...

I always dug the 'long' version of this song with all the instrument solos at about 2:00.

The Animals are choice. Forrest and I have done this several times. Haven't in awhile, but it starts out as a 'remember this....' then evolves into who can make the other one cry while thinking about their father and the future without them in it.

                So here it goes...
My dad used to play this song before a motocross race to find his groove.

                Couldn't get it to load.

And to somewhat stay on point..

I think we need to make an agreement that no Elvis, Beatles, or Stones make it in this thread.

i have most if not all this on vinyl.

in the 80's and very early 90's, every weekend my family would back road it from garland to our property on what would be lake fork. mowing and clearing. clearing and mowing. but for two hours on friday and two hours on sunday. this is what was played in my dad's k5 blazer relentlessly, along with some 80''s metal. this is my church and why my radio stays on kluv 99% of the time.

                      awesome thread.

Some more of my favorites, non-motown...

This one because, to me, it's really a snapshot of the "climate" in the late 60's

                        Michelle Phillips...ohhhh yes!

^^ That last vid was originally filmed 3 years and 1 day before I was born, lol.

Epic thread. S&J, sleepwalk gets me every single time.

I agree with Sean on the Animals, rising sun was the biggest song in the world before the beatles. The video is stellar. Something about the way the lead singer looks too pissed to be doing a "music film".

Sorry Sean, I'm dumping some 'Stones here.
