Are there any updated houses in the neighborhood? How are they comparing in price?
I can see a lot of potential in the house and it's great that you can do the work yourself.
On the flip side, if you're doing construction all day at work, you sure as hell are gonna get burned out doing it in your free time.

That almost seems like buying a 99 dollar roller car you need to invest 70K into for it to do what you want - when there are cars for 20K that'll do what you want right off the bat.
1932 is waaaay too old, unless you have a lot of disposable income. I think most houses are sold as-is, but I'd get an inspector that you trust and look out for high dollar problems.
Also, if you ever plan to have a family that kitchen won't work. A good modern woman is going to want a lot of space to work in.
The outside looks fine. I'd also wait for a warm day and take an IR thermometer to the walls. I'm guess you won't see much difference between the windows and the walls.
Basically, you'll be remodeling and updating the whole home by the time you're done. Especially if you end up with a wife and kids there.

I like the way my brother has to open windows to get his fireplace to draw on his new energy efficient home. Kind of defeats the purpose. I know its tight but they should have allowed for a draw duct in the chimney or something.
I say go for it. Lots of personality. Just update the bones of the home first. Offer 85k

Good luck! I love older homes. My mom and stepdad had an amazing old farmhouse in Bandera that they restored. It's was a lot of fun to work on, but got stressful at times.
You may see if the inspector will let you and your dad walk through it together, so you two can form a detailed list of all of the renovations and start putting a realistic estimate together, since you guys are in construction. I'd also look at what needs to be done to make it habitable verses what needs to be done to make it your dream home and attempt to seperate the two.
Also, get on the county tax accessor's page and look up the tax appraisal, as well as the appraisals in the area. It will give you an idea of whether or not the money spent will support the area comps when you decide to sell.
