Petty turned to drag racing for '65 to maintain a relationship with Chrysler, which had every intention of putting the Hemi in a production car. Ford never had any desire to put the Cammer in anything, so why should it have been legal for Nascar?
Seems funny that you keep painting Ford as the victim here. They made a lot of great race parts, but back in the '60s, you at least had to be a LITTLE BIT stock in order to run Nascar.
