I've been trying to score a ride out on Air One with my Lt contact at DPD but haven't had any luck. I've jumped out of all kinds of planes, hot air balloons, etc. I just haven't ever managed to get on a helicopter, damnit!
WEll to bad your not closer, I could cut you a deal on a short intro flight. Let you fly

I was out where my camper is stored and it is a base affiliated storage facility. It butts up to the runway. I was out there one day and took a video with my phone of them taking off. I was like 100 yds away. Those things are freakin' awesome.
Yeah, I just think that it is odd as well. And I 2nd the fighter jet thing. I'm out in VA beach, and they are everywhere. Just today I was sitting at a light and I saw two fly by pretty low and then bank 90 degrees, how freaking cool. And with the fighter jets it just looks effortless for them.
Ive seen a few with in a few miles in the air. When I work in florida theres an AF base and a navy base in the keys. I got to fly about a .5 mile from the field in the keys. Got some pics of some jets sitting on the tarmac. The whole day I was working one of those big c30's or whatever they were doing was doing touch and go all days. LOL

I hear you there. I work with some air dales and they say that they guys who flunk out of fighter school go to helo school. I don't know how much of that is them just making their jobs somehow seem better to them or what. Lol. My step dad was a test pilot for bell helicopter for over 20 years. Want to talk about a crazy bastard, lol.
Yah, in the navy the lowest scoring guys fly choppers. ODD I know LOL I mean about the only fixed wing aircraft I would want to fly is a fighter jet. I was stating from more of a civilian standpoint.
We aren't considered to be ones who didn't cut it in planes. Just more looked at by the fixed wing community as "odd birds". Planes are VERY boring to fly. Every time I have to taxi some where like a plane I want to punch a baby. Helicopters are not inherently stable like planes. Meaning if you let go of the controls in your average cesna, nothing happens. Let go of the controls of a helicopter. Your going for a ride!

And it's funny that the helo pilots are considered to get a rough deal, or to be the ones who couldn't hack it as a plane pilot, lol. I belive it requires much more skill to fly a helo than a fixed wing. Just my opinion.

Hell yes they do, that's a LOT of helicopter!
I did a lot of what these guys are doing (from 1:25 on)... RAST hookups, only the ones I did were usually at night with the deck pitching 20°-30°.
F that!! I know what 30 deg is like and "no, i don't think so" comes to mind.
