I seriously hope it's good but I'm not holding my breath. I have the sinking feeling that it will end up like the shitty Horsepower TV shows. 90% ad crap and very little useful information. I really hope not, but the whole advertising issue is going to fuck it up thanks to greed.

Since this show was on a public broadcasting channel in England, why not give PBS a whack at it here. They have some of the best HD equipment out there, and this show would be loads more entertaining than anything else on PBS.

Public broadcastic doesn't have near the viewer support here. If it's Americanized it will fail. If they stay true to it's roots, it should be fine, but, no where as good as the original.

I think this is an excellent idea.

FWIW, I'm working with a couple of buddies of mine that are film students at UT on a concept for a Top Gear-style show, but not necessarily a carbon copy. We've got the resources to produce a short little pilot, we're just working on ironing out the concept.

The only problem with that is that the BBC is all there is there. It gets ton of tax support and its the primary broadcaster in the country (and world). PBS just isn't the same.

It will pale in comparison to the original. Besides the original has had years to develop.

So try comparing it to every other car show we have available to us in the US...

IMO it'll make Motorweek look like the shitty show that it really is.

I liked the original better when they weren't out doing stupid skits.

If they put something more interesting on, they might get more viewer support.

That accent and goofy behavior is 30-40% what makes the BBC version worth watching.
