it will completely fall short of the original... slack-jaws who have never seen the original will think it's fucking awesome, and it will eventually fizzle

I feel that part of the appeal of Top Gear is that it is not an American show.
This version will undoubtedly suck.

Yep. Clarkson hates America for some reason.
Pisses me off when the jikkies refer to the USA, Canada, Australia, etc as "the colonies". I hate being grouped in with inferior countries... especially Canada.Last edited by Moose242; 11-19-2010, 12:08 PM.Originally posted by lincolnboyAfter watching Games of Thrones, makes me glad i was not born in those years.

The original is about great cinematography, fantastic cars and a trio of gentlemen that have great chemistry and focus on the emotive side of automotive enthusiasm.
TGUS will miss the boat on absolutely all of that.

I have a sneaking suspicion that all the American Top Gear episodes will have significantly less bad reviews of most vehicles because of potentially upsetting an advertiser. Hell, ill bet that we see shit tons of Mustang commercials during the episode when they review the vehicle, and ill parley that and say that the reviewers find almost nothing negative to say.Originally posted by lincolnboyAfter watching Games of Thrones, makes me glad i was not born in those years.

I couldn't put my finger on why the show is going to turn into a giant TNT Saturday morning advertisers' cock suck session, but you nailed it

There is really no point to making this show under the Top Gear name. It just goes to show how uncreative the producers are by doing so. If they did this same show and called it Fuckin-A I would think it was OK and watch it knowing it was a TG ripoff just not as blatting.
