it's ridiculous to me that people let their cars get like that

In this case (as this is my car), it simply has never been a huge priority. Especially when any damage can be undone. I just have other things that I need to/like to spend my time doing, and for about 4yrs I chose to run it through automatic car washes.

Now that the car is looking nice again, however, I am making time to hand-wash it and be more careful with it.
