Originally posted by Machx2 View PostI would have kicked the crap out of someone if they kicked my car after an accident... There is a reason that bikes are so dangerous, because you can't see them! Lol Its that simple. I love motorcycles, but it is common sense. You can be paying 100% attention and still hit one.

Was he slamming on the brakes, or were you speeding?

I don't think loud pipes save live as much as people think. Especially with new cars sound proofing the interior. Glad your alright
The site may have changed, but some things never do. LOL
I don't think loud pipes are the be-all end-all, but if someone is coming over and you can pull the clutch in and smash the limiter it usually gets their attention and they swerve back.
Originally posted by samuel642000 View PostNo it's common sense that most people just don't look for bikes. Which is why, as a rider, you have to look after your own self.
Originally posted by ceyko View PostIt's a mix, I LOOK over my shoulder every time and on occasion have barely seen the bikes.
You can tell the truly cautious riders though, hell some even make eye contact with me sometimes. They are either trying to eye fuck me or make sure they know, that I know that they are there.
Either way, they are not in my blind spot and for riders that's the number one thing you can do. Stay behind me, stay in front of me or even at my door - but don't stay where it is least likely that I'll see you. Especially on my passneger side. Yall ride so low that if I'm luck I may see your helmet over the bed of my truck if you're doing your tuck thing and in the wrong spot.
If I'm tucked, I'm moving, and I'm invisible. You won't notice me until I'm already ahead of you. If a rider is tucked at commuting speed, they are homosexual
Originally posted by Blackout View Postif im riding and some ass hat trys to come in my lane and i hit their door with my fist or my foot and they start trying to fight me they would be lucky to not get shot.
you are right bikes are hard to see at times and i see kids doing stuped shit every day on them i have no respect for that kind of rider.
hell just the other night i saw a kid on a croch rocket with his GF, both didn't have a helmet on or jackets and were speeding. when i pulled up next to them i bitched them out til the light turned green.
but don't try and act like all bike are so dangerous when you don't know what your talking about. i have been riding for years and never had a wreck with a car due to me being a good rider and watching my own ass.
the way people drive around here is retarded. you have so many people doing stupid shit on the roads. a few weeks ago i had some jack ass in a vett almost hit me in the HOV lane when he cut in front of me to go around traffic. he knew i was their and did it to look like a bad ass.

don't trust ANYONE. seriously, if you ride and think "i'll be okay they can see/hear me".. you're in for a rude awakening.
Originally posted by GeorgeG. View Posteverytime I begin to consider getting a bike, I come across a story like this or worse and it convinces me to not get one. I'll get the itch again in a few months and will once again come across someone's "close encounter" experience and be turned off. I swear this has been occurring for a few years now and I still don't have one.
Originally posted by futant View Posti don't understand wtf is wrong with kicking the shit out of their door?
if they come in my fucking lane while im there, I'm definitely kicking the shit out of it. so that stupid douche (that can't look) now knows that I am there.
WTF is hard to understand about that . I'm not going to wait until you finally hit me, then kick your door.
It's your stupid ass that should have looked, and my insurance isn't going to pay for shit when I tell them you were in my lane.US Politics in three words - Divide and Conquer

side note: there are two gnarly bumps i have become aware of around dfw, so if you're at speed watch out.
I30 to 820 south, almost right after you get on 820. pretty sure i got air last night, not fun.
and 161 to 635 east. mile or two after the split.

ride like you're invisible and never let your guard down...
Was the truck passing, was the rider passing, were they both traveling the same speed, if not how different were their speeds, which side of the truck was the rider on, when did the rider hit the brakes, when did the truck brake, how much time passed from the initial collision and the collision with the mirror?

if the truck was passing, he would have known the bike was there and not hit him...
if the rider was passing, its reasonable to assume he was in the blind spot when (or if) the old man checked before changing lanes...
if they were traveling the same speed, he was definitely sitting in the blind spot...
it was the passenger side of the truck...
speed and time are irrelevant because as soon as the truck made contact, he began braking... its not like they were cruising down the highway bouncing off each other...
there's only one place the bike could be and hit a mirror when the vehicle began braking... in the blind spot... or the no zone or whatever the hell you wanna call it...

n00b mistake, bad distance/speed judgement. went to pass someone and a vehicle in the passing lane was closer and going slower than i thought. not enough room to pass and nowhere else to go so i hit the brakes, grabbed too much front and slammed down onto my left side. padded leather icon jacket saved my shoulder & elbow, teknic gloves saved my knuckles & wrist... and i guess god saved my head cause like a retard i wasnt wearing my lid. walked away with a big ass bump on the head that went away with ice and a tiny road rash on my wrist the size of a cigarette burn

I really hate wearing my gloves... I think I might have gotten them a size too big. Bought them online and never liked 'em, but tried on a size smaller at CycleGear and it seemed much more fitting. I suppose I need to cough up the cash for them.
I know if I end up going down without gloves my hands are going to be torn the hell up :/
