  • Transporting an older bike

Nothing special, but a mid 70's vintage Honda. One opinion is center stand down, strap the bike on 4 corners & go. Opinion 2 is centerstand up, strap the bike on both sides in the front, one strap thru the back wheel. Truck has a front wheel cradle that will be used either way. Opinions, horror stories?????
BTW, this a 1000 mile trip.

    Discuss please.

i hauled one from SC to TX no kickstand, just strapped on all four corners, i stopped two or three times to adjust and ratchet the straps a bit more as the bike got settled, but once we were back on 20 it was smooth sailing. I also strapped to the triple tree not the handle bars. and did my bast to compress the forks as much as i could.

Buy a front fork wedge and drop the center stand with it 4 cornered and you will be a ok.

Compress the suspension as much as possible.

yeah you have to, or you will be constantly tightening the straps.

x2 on a fork wedge, especially on a older bike at that distance, itll be easier on the fork seals.

centerstand up, 3 straps, one on each side of the handlebars, one across the swingarm.
