I went back in 2010 with a buddy and camped out. It was okay. Almost hit a wild hog in the trails on my DRZ. Rather flat terrain.
I'd go again..but it wouldn't be my first choice of off road parks.
Any creeks, jumps, ect? Do they let ATV's on. Gotta tweek my carb on the YZ and I am ready for the trails again. Would like a little variation so the wife can play in her buggy though.

yes the do let ATV's ride, and from what I remember there were a few places you could jump and possibly some creek like places....on the other side of the old railroad track there was some intense and thick cross country riding but the trail marking was poorly done and didn't look to me like it got ridden very often. Red River is MUCH better...but thats quite a drive. Like I said...I'd go again if you wanna drag me along...but I've been to better parks.
Yeah I was gonna call you the other day about maybe this weekend, however the weather looks rough. How are you with tuning carbs I may need a little help. I bought a 27 hour 04 YZ450 the other day until I can save my pennies and get a KTM 350. It's got a little pop when you goose it and let off. Runs great though, but I don't remember my other 2 YZ426 and 450's popping that much, may be a pipe leak but I just got it. He rode it a handful of times and it just sat for a few years. Said he cleaned the carb real good and now its got a little pop. He put the adjustable fuel screw in the bottom but I haven't tried to mess with it yet. He also said he couldn't crank it warm with out choking it but I could fire it off with one kick hot. Told him it was all my years of KX500's. LOL Hopefully my new boots come in this week. I did buy a nice 6 x 10 ramp trailer so we can haul easier.
Popping on decel is usually caused by a lean pilot circuit (adjusted with fuel screw). Set the bike to a high idle. Turn the fuel mixture screw in until the engine almost dies. Count the turns out until the engine rpm peaks. If you turn the fuel mixture screw too far out, the exhaust note will become dull and lumpy. The cooler the air, the richer (CCW) the fuel screw adjustment.
If your bike pops at the crack of the throttle, suspect the fuel mixture adjustment but also check for an exhaust leak at the head pipe or slip fit.

Yeah I am going to tinker with it this weekend. If I can't dial it out I will be checking the header gasket. I think the guy just set it at 2 out and left it not thinking about the outside temps. I didn't see any leaks at the pipe but may get a ole piece of tissue out and see if I get movement. He put the original jets back in it after he tried to richen it up so there is a good possibility it is a pipe issue. I hate this new fuel, it gums up at the drop of a hat. Thanks Dave.

I wish I could say I was good at tuning carbed thumpers..but I'm not. My DRZ is going to need the carb cleaned out and possibly rejetted while I'm in there to get it to run right. Its been sitting so long I may have forgotten how to ride it
