  • Where to get a 2 stroke bored locally?

Looking for some recommendations on a shop that can bore out a 250cc 2 stroke polaris engine and maybe even sell me a top end kit. My trailboss shit the bed on compression, I can do the disassembly and reassembly myself, just need someone that can bore it out.

You can take it up to any motorcycle shop and have them hone the jug if its not to scared up. I have taken numerous jugs up to Honda Kawasaki west to have them honed for $0-20 depending on how bad it is.

I haven't cracked it open, but I don't think it's that bad. Compression is 90 PSI max. It was running fine, but it started backfiring and now it wont start at all.

I would just go get it honed if its just a little scratched up and fire another 250 top end kit in it. I've had em honed and the same top end kit on a race bike 3 times without having it bored, sleeved, or just bought a new jug.

SMS Racing in Denton should be able to do it. Good guys, Caleb Ramsay is the #1 pro in TCCRA, he's a mechanic up there.

Might also shoot Buick355 a msg, he had his done.

I had my YZ250 done through Millennium Technologies (Eric Gorr), but he did a big bore kit, port work, head work, etc.

If it's nikasil plated and needs to be re-plated, these guys are supposed to be awesome:

For all powersports cylinder services including plating, boring, and diamond honing. We also offer a cylinder exchange program.

If the plating still looks good and just needs a little cleaning up (still has crosshatch) just scotchbrite that bitch and put a new piston, rings, wristpin, and bearing in it.

if it's nikasil and needs to go over size by a tenth or two, we have the diamond hones capable of removing material. If it's fubar'd, it will need to go to millenium.

Pro Max Powersports in Springtown dropped a jug off in the morning and rode it that evening
