  • Anyone mess with old dirtbikes?

My brother gave me a 82 Suzuki DR250. I'm about to rebuild the carb and put tires on it and see if I can figure out what else I need. It's pretty neat for how old it is.

Well I'm fine with riding bikes but never really worked one and its just a little project for when I get bored. Just seeing if anyone here might have advice about it when I need it.

them shits are easy to work on. all air cooled thumpers are the same for the most part.

when you have your carb apart you can shim the needle for a little more fuel 1/4-3/4 throttle and clip a few coils off your spring for a little better throttle response

If it feels like it still has good compression than w/ a little carb cleaning and fresh fuel she'll probably start right up. Other stuff you might consider checking, greasing and lubing is all the stuff that dries out or rusts-up on dirt bikes, like its cables, wheel bearings, swingarm and steering head, chain and sprockets, and its brakes. Good luck and have fun.
