A motorcyclist died in two-vehicle accident on Loop 288 at Interstate 35E Monday afternoon, police said.
No other injuries were reported, and officers say they were attempting to notify the motorcyclist’s next of kin.
Officer Ryan Grelle said the motorcycle and a pickup truck were involved in the accident. The motorcycle was traveling north on Loop 288 and the pickup was traveling south.
The two vehicles collided as the pickup attempted to turn into the Denton Town Center strip mall, he said.
It’s expected that the lanes where the accident occurred will be shut down for a while, according to Denton police.
“Any traffic on the service road in front of the [northbound] Loop 288 is being diverted back onto 35E,” said Officer Shane Kizer. “Officers are wanting us to encourage drivers to avoid the area and definitely stay off the Loop.”
Denton police reported shortly after 5 p.m. that officers are continuing to investigate the accident.
Kizer said that lanes have reopened on North Loop 288 and U.S. Highway 380 where a separate accident occurred Monday.
