  • So....

Where should I go to learn how to ride? I have always wanted to get a bike but dont know how to ride.
I would go beat the fuck out of all of them within an inch of their life, then fuck their chihuahua while they watch as they get loaded into the ambulance

Just dive in. The first time I rode a bike was when I backed my '99 GSXR out of my truck after I bought it. I stayed in the neighborhood for awhile before venturing out on the roads. I also spent some time with an experienced rider in a large empty parking lot but that was after quite a bit of seat time. Helped out a lot and I probably should've started there, but there's only so much instruction, you just have to ride and get comfortable.

I never took any formal instruction or obtained a license, and I've been riding for almost 15 years.

Get a crotch rocket and run from the police. You'll pick the small things up quick or have 3-5 to think about your mistakes.

          This.

But there's a bit more to it than that.

i started off just getting a bike and learning on my own, i took the class a couple years after i started riding and wish i had done it first. plus if you have a M endorsement you can test ride bikes to get an idea of what you are most comfortable on

MSF and then parking lot and back roads.. a pitbike will teach you some basics but you need to learn emergency braking and handling on YOUR bike. I never rode, bought a zx6 and rode it around half a day in the neighborhood and learned quickly. the advice about riding with an experienced rider is worth its weight in gold - things like body positioning and riding lines are invaluable and hard to pick up on your own.
