A KTM Sr and a King Cobra both have more than enough power to get out of there way. I witnessed my nephew pull a wheelie almost the entire length of the start at Ponca City a couple of yrs ago. You have to put the right stack of washers in the clutch to get it to react to your kids weight.

You're right, i was speaking more to the honda 50's than anything. there are a lot of others that are lots better, but 9 times out of 10 when someone says osmething about a 50 it's a pw or a honda.. neither of which IMO have any grunt.

2 or 4 stroke. @ 220lbs I can get a stock crf50 to wheelie through third (granted lots of weight transfer), although my only 50 is a 88/raceheaded motor. dont know about any 2 stroke honda 50's though.

Your weight transfer on a fiddy is causing the wheelie more than the throttle.

but to say a fiddy has "barely" enough power to wheelie is not true

in the video below im on the black bike for the most part, doesn't seem to have any trouble doing a wheelie

i dont want to start an argument, but crf/xr 50's are far from "junk", on my old white crf i literally beat that thing to death every single time i rode it, i've ghost ridden it off a hill, purposely looped the hell out of it, 12'ed it 100's of times, wrecked it literally a thousand times, and the worst things i ever had happen were broken shifters, levers (before asv's), and an occasional flat tire (street tires on dirt). not saying they are the best mx bike for kids, but they are also not junk.

I'm ready to move on this, bringing it back up to the top. Any deals to be had? A few on CL, but none are much of a "deal". I should have bought back when it was cold and there was snow on the ground, I know....

Doesn't have to be, but it's all I know (which isn't much, I've been out of riding for 9 years or so).

50cc is too small. He'd only be able to ride it this summer, and I think by the end of summer he'd be bored with a 50. 65 is the next natural step. Doesn't HAVE to be a smoker, but something around 65cc (85 is going to be too tall), and needs a real clutch.

kawasaki and hondas are both solid. you'll be able to get these kx65s cheaper than any ktm. Or maybe something like an xr80, might be too big. they do make small/big wheel versions of the 85cc.

I'll make you a deal on my 125 pitbike for him. MORE than enough power, just needs a little love. Has aftermarket carb, intake, and rev box. It needs the chain roller reattached, new plastics and a good front tire, but it's a SOLID bike, frame is all billet aluminum, thump* shock, etc.

I've done ~50+ on it cruising down hwy 10.
