After riding a CBR1100xx as well as various other big displacement streetbikes its hard to say my DRZ400s feels truly at home on the pavement but it can eat up mile after mile of pavement at 75 mph without breaking a sweat and if I just peg the throttle back it can do about 95mph with me on it. On the dirt...its not gonna win a motocross race against an RMZ450 or CRF450, but all things considered (I've owned quite a few serious off-road bikes like YZ250's, RMX250, KDX200/KDX220) and this DRZ satisfies me more than any of the others I've owned. If you get past the fact its a bit heavy...this thing can get pretty serious in the dirt if you can manage it. I ride mine in the dirt complete with license plate and turn signals but I DO take off the mirrors.
