  • Stay away from Full Throttle Motorsports

I know that most of you don't live near me, but I still feel the need to spread the word on how shitty their service is.

I had taken my bike there to have them put in some stiffer springs for my forks and some APE manual cam chain tensioners. The factory tensioners were known to fail on the SuperHawks which would cause a catastrophic engine failure.

I got worried when I hadn't heard from them in a few days and had Jenn call to see what the deal was. Apparently, one of the mechanics didn't understand what he was doing and bent two intake valves, then decided it would be best to try and keep quiet on the deal.

Long story short, after getting the job done they tried to charge me for the bent valves, valve guides, head gasket, and the labor to fix their fuck up. We get the financial misunderstanding corrected and I take my bike. I quickly notice that my bike is waaaay down on power and go right back to the shop to bitch. When I crank up the bike at his shop it makes a nasty howling noise. Now that the engine was warmed up, the cam chain was too tight and the starter motor was having a hard time spinning the motor over.

Fast forward to last weekend. I finally get to tear into my bike to see why it's running so poorly. The first things I notice are missing parts in the air box, disconnected plugs, vacuum lines that weren't hooked up, and everything was incredibly over torqued. I got the cam covers off to check the cam timing and sure enough the front cylinder that had bent valves is off by a tooth. The exhaust cam was retarded by one tooth. On top of that, the intake valves are shimmed too tight. I couldn't even fit a .0015 inch feeler gauge in between them.

I never wanted to have to work on my bike. I bought this toy with the sole intention of riding it and paying someone else to keep it up and running. Now I've paid money and had to fix their shit.
I also have to wait until the shims get in to be able to fix my bike.

    I know, I know..... tl;dr

CLIFF's notes: Stay away from Full Throttle Motorsports in Longview, TX. They don't do respectable work and will attempt to charge you for their fuck ups.

The mechanic that worked on my bike was a childhood friend. He was a service tech at two different local Honda shops for at least 8 years. I ASSumed he knew what he was doing. I'm writing this off as my yearly stupid tax.

It is possible that he was an excellent mechanic at one point, but his alcoholism has ruined him. He recently got thrown in jail for strangling his old lady, which violated his probation for his 2nd DWI. He was also caught with "Mollies". He'll be locked up for 5-10.

I had planned on keeping this to myself because the owner of the business was trying to work with me. He got all my missing parts ordered and to me in a very timely manner. However, when I showed up to explain what was fucked up on my bike and to ask if I can use his shim kit. He told me I was wrong about my bike, and that they didn't even have a shim kit. He then told me he helped the mechanic time my cams and shim the valves.

That blatant lie is what did him in. So fuck 'em. I'll let everyone know how shitty they are.

        Wow that blows.

Upside, when you get it back together, we need to take a group ride somewhere.

That was one of my talking points on rectifying the bill. I'm in the service industry and when I make a mistake on a customer's boat or trolling motor I have to eat the extra cost. My expertise insures that I'm not supposed to make costly mistakes, but it can still happen. It's the cost of doing business.

I want to retaliate and do something stupid, but I figure the owner is just losing money left and right, so he'll suffer longer than me. The mechanic is going to be locked up for a while, so he'll suffer longer than me. Therefore, I'm just going to speed up the closing of their doors by spreading the word.

Between telling others and their piss poor abilities, they can't last 6 more months.

He must have really drunk and pilled himself retarded, that's a lot of stupid mistakes for a seasoned tech.

It's pretty sad. He was once a very talented individual. He followed his Dad's footsteps to a T.

His Dad was the best VW mechanic in the area, but he got screwed up with bad ideas as well.

                    Where are you?

I should have it up and running by this weekend. I wish I could stumble across some cams, seeing as I've got it torn down right now.

Funny, I used to use those plastic carts for the same thing. Well, I have one of them, but you get the gist. Also put blue mechanics towels down. Great minds ;-)
