  • Any referrals for ATV carb rebuilding?

Raptor 660 has some carb issues. Just put a rebuild kit in it, and I'm still having problems. Would like to find a referral as opposed to just getting raped at a dealer. Garland / Mesquite area...

I have done one. Its not bad. Just get the book or specs and set them to the factory settings. Clean them jets out, if its been sitting for a while then they are prob clogged.

I have an 05 660 and I'm on the same boat. I think my floats are stuck. I know the pilot jetting is wrong my header glows at idle.

          Here's a good how-to:

It's really not all that hard, just take your time and clean and inspect everything really well.

I would refer you to some carb cleaner , motivation , and a good seal kit at best.

that's an ignition timing issue, think about it.
it doesn't matter how wrong the f/a ratio is it wouldn't cause that unless the ign timing is way retarded

A glowing header at idle is normal on 4T dirt bikes. IT only takes a minute of idling, especially in lower light conditions like in your garage to see it glow.

I tried rebuilding it myself. Used a kit that had all the new seals, jets, needles, etc. idles like crap, just pops when I tried to give it any throttle.

assuming the carb is the issue, make sure your floats are correctly adjusted..

I just did this on a 05' 660. Use the clear tube method to get the proper float height. The guys on the raptor forum have a thread with a complete how to for carb rebuilds.
