I had a 2000 model which was the year before the bug eyes models and it was probably the best bike I've ever owned. Don't let the fact that a bike has carbs steer ya away they run just fine.

Just don't let them sit for months on end with fuel in the float bowls.

Yup and it's still a good bike. But the new engine kinda lost some of the appeal of the bike to me when they dropped the air/oil cooled GSXR motor. Those things were bullet proof and the aftermarket was pretty strong with it too.

You like it? They are pretty reasonable, I dig the looks, and they look like they would work equaly well as a commuter or a tourer. Any major complaints?

yeah i like it...ive got into plenty of trouble with it. no complaints really, it takes abuse well. it's not a supersport by any means, but it does everything fairly well.

this bike has seen it all, wheelies, track-days, moderate distance, etc...im about ready to get off after 150 miles though. it needs a nice seat.

this bike will get a turbo once i get a new street ride.

That's what I've got. I like it, but some folks feel like it's under powered for a liter bike. It's a very nimble bike. I feel like I can throw it around with ease.

Horsepower wise it is but that's not what the big Bandit was ever about. That bike was all about the torque. It's what I loved about mine.

Im talking with a guy that has a 2k 1200 that I can get very cheap. Im not in love with the mono-lamp front end, but it's $2k more for the cheapest 01 model I can find. Its enough I can scrape together the funds and buy it now, and sit on the Star sale until I get a good offer. Its not my first choice, but after reading reviews of the 600, Ill live with the ugly front for less money, and if it is a bike I love, ill sell it after ive sold the star and buy a newer model.

Have you looked at the Honda Hornet 919? Buddy of mine in Austin picked one up EXTREMELY cheap and he loves it.

Surely you know that small sport fairings are cheap, work pretty good, and don't look bad on non-faired bikes (Bandit included).

Very aware. Either way, the bike posted above Is $3k higher than the bike I'm going to check out tomorrow.

Picked it up last night. 2000 bandit 1200s, 33k miles. It's not perfect, but I only gave $1650 for it. Only thing I can see mechanically wrong is the chain is loose. I've only ridden it an hour or so, but I think i'm going to be happy with it.
