24hr Bike Shop

How many people would be interested in a 24hr bike shop or a shop that was open till 10pm on week days and maybe 12am on weekends?

I'm sick of needing something on a week day and not being able to get to a shop before they close.

Sorry, but no. I order most of my shit online and install it myself, so I very rarely go to a shop though. If a shop offered something like free cold water or something like a rider's lounge, I could see using the shop as a meeting point or as a destination to ride to. Then I could see wanting them to have extended hours.

The idea of a rider's lounge where you could go chill out in some A/C and have something cold to drink sounds pretty good to me. Have a TV with some DVD's playing and some chairs...maybe a helmet and coat rack? If I had a dealership, that's what I'd do.

To add that feature to an existing dealership would cost you the price of bottled water ($.10/each) and maybe a few grand to set-up and furnish. I was just saying that is the kind of thing that it would take to lure me to a dealership more often.

Are you going to be able to cover your operating costs and payroll and make a profit?

I seriously doubt you will since you are competing with the internet which is 24hr and has better prices.

I get what you're saying about people buying online and I agree. With what I have in my head, online would be my main source too in 3 different mediums actually (website/eBay/secret idea). But I also planned on making it a destination to ride to, hang out, grab a water or a beer at but still be able to buy a tire or oil at 9pm at night when everyone else is closed. I was also thinking about FREE tire installs if you buy the tires from me. Furthermore - I can offer same day parts in most cases if ordered by 12pm since the distributors are here in DFW any way. I was thinking a main location with all of that in Dallas, maybe somewhere off regal row and irving blvd area with two satellite locations in frisco/little elm and fort worth that are smaller. Let alone - not focus on one genre of powers-sports like sport bikes, but all of them - cruisers, quads, dirt bikes, street bikes, Harley's and jet skis and side by sides.

You're forgetting the cost to keep an employee there 24/7, unless you don't mind people being able to walk off with your inventory. On top of that, you'd still be buying your parts online and fixing your bikes yourself, so why would anyone with any business sense do that?


They have places that do what you are talking about. They are called gas stations and restaurants.

Now thats an idea - do a 24 hr diner (example the metro, RIP) and have the cycle shop as a side business.

If you set it up where the shop is the side I could see that working set it up like the bar in main street grapevine I forget the name but it's a destination and while the bikers are partying it up at the bar their bike is in the back for oil change etc. My issue with bike shop hours is no Sunday Monday service. Had a tire blow out in the ft hood area on a Sunday at like 4 in the afternoon I would have paid twice the price to have it fixed would have been cheaper then a hotel room for 2 nights and could have been back on the road.
