Grand Prairie police are investigating the motorcycle accident that killed Donald Dale Church, 61, of Grand Prairie on Sunday.
Police said the accident occurred at about 6:00 p.m. when Evaristo Hernandez, 35, of Grand Prairie, driving a 1998 Pontiac westbound on Main, turned left at NW 23rd Street in front of Church who was riding a 2000 Yamaha motorcycle east on Main.

Church collided with the right side of the Pontiac and died at the scene. He was wearing a helmet.

Hernandez was not injured in the wreck. He was arrested at the scene and charged with driving without a license or insurance. Investigators will consult with the Dallas County DA’s Office to determine if additional charges are warranted.

Sergeant Eric Hansen, Traffic Section, said investigators believe the setting sun was in Hernandez’s eyes and he did not see the approaching motorcycle. The collision remains under investigation.

This is the 3rd traffic fatality in Grand Prairie this year.
