Buying a bike with no title?

If you buy a bike from someone who has lost the title how do you register it?

Call the DMV and run the VIN to make sure it's not stolen. You can apply for a replacement title. I would definitely use it as a bargaining tool also.

I've bought 3 bikes and one jetski with no title and got them all resolved...2 were out of state. You REALLY need to verify with the DMV prior to the sale that its not reported stolen. Thats the most important part. I was fortunate to know the state the bikes were last registered in which made tracking down the previous owner information easier. It can be done...just be prepared to do your homework.

of course do like everyone has said and call the DMV with the VIN, but make sure and take Buick355 advice and use it to bring down the price
