    I think his buddy's message is, "About the time you're thirsty, is too late to start digging a well." Plan ahead, like the 2sec rule. Give yourself a cushion.

    I also agree with your evasive action plan. Same thing they teach in defensive driving. Swerve, then brake or be far enough back you can brake, then swerve.
