  • Battery tenders

Wow!!! So I have had this battery tender in my garage since I bought my last battery for the HD a year or so ago. Now I ride my HD at least three to five times a weak so I figured I never needed one. Same thing with my four wheeler, I use to take it out every three weeks or so and it was fine. So winter rolls around and I notice my HD is getting a little more sluggish to start but no biggy it has never been really fast at turning over and with the cold I thought this was normal. So the other day I thought screw it I am going to play with my cheap battery tender and wow what a difference. My four wheeler cranked like it was new and my HD not only cranked a lot faster, but the lights where brighter on it the whole ride last night to and from the gym. I guess my short trips to work were not enough to keep it fully charged? Well the HD is wired now but I am looking for recomendations on good multi chargers. I think I have a walmart Shumaker or something. I wouldnt mind putting one on the diesel also. Does anyone make one with long enough leads to pull this off or should I just move the one I got around say once a week to the different vehicles. I cant imagine I would need to leave them on all the time. You guys that have been using these for a while, do you have any insight into the best way to do this?

I wired in quick connectors on all of my bikes, and just use a single battery tender to keep them all charged. I just move it from bike-to-bike every week or so and it keeps them all well charged.

The multi-charging units I've seen look interesting, but I think they're kinda expensive and I've gotten by using my single unit for a couple of years now without issue.

If I have a disconnect where I can kill all the power to the car, do I still need a tender?

Battery Tender makes 2, 4, 5, and 12 bank charging stations, and has 12 and 25 foot leads to add as well.

Depends on how often and how far you drive. Just like the OP, if you have a short commute, you may not be getting a full charge every time. It's a lot less common with newer cars though.

Unfortunately, there is no price break on the multi outlet units.

Yeah I was looking at their site and they are not cheap but nice stuff though. I wonder how well the solar ones work.
