  • Time to sell the R6...

The time has come to sell my bike, it's been sitting in the garage for far too long. I'll do my due diligence of course, and check the local ads, dealerships, Kelley Blue book, etc., but I figure I'd post up here and see what you guys think as well.

I fully expect to get the "I'll give $5 dollars, half a diet coke, and most of a big mac" replies, but if anyone's been in the market to buy a used sportbike recently, I'd love to hear what kind of prices you are coming across there in Texas. Mods don't usually increase the value, but I'll list them for the fvck of it.

    Raven (black) 2006 Yamaha R6S
    6k miles
    single owner
    never wrecked
    new tires, front & rear
oil change at 1k, 3k, and, 5k miles
    flushmount front signals
factory tail signals removed, and integrated into the plate frame
    -1 +3 sprockets and 320 chain
    Puig smoked windscreen
    M4 carbon fiber high-mount exhaust
carbon fiber chain guard and rear fender

I have all factory parts if required, mesh and leather (black) Joe Rocket jackets, and a like new Shoei helmet if needed to sweeten the deal. I'll get current pics posted later today.

$4-4500 would be my guess based on what I've seen around here
      Vortex rear stand $75
      8.8 410s. $50

My goal in life is to not arrive at the grave in a well preserved body.
but rather to skid in sideways, totally worn out, shouting "holy shit!!!.. what a ride!"

1990 Foxbody GT for that ass

Would you think that Texas or Cali has the better market for used bikes? A buddy just sold his 2005 zx10 (3400 miles) in Arizona for only $5000 and had a crap load of mods and stock parts with it.

I think he was asking $7500 and wanted to settle for $7000, but he had it up for a while with a lot of calls and people wanting to give him even less. I'm not too savoy when it comes to nikes, but he seemed pretty pissed, but it was just ditting in storage and costing him to just have it in there while he's over here.

Just like cars, mods on bikes rarely yeild a return. He's nuts for thinking he could get $7500 imo, and pissed for no reason.

The market is definitely much better in SoCal and near the coast up north, as the weather is much nicer year round, and the rides are far more scenic. Sacramento weather and topology is alot like DFW, but it's close to the Napa valley, San Francisco/bay area, Lake Tahoe, and Yosemite. Add California's sunshine take (ie the government's broke tax), and I should be able to get a little more for it out here as compared to North Texas, both in terms of location, and time of year.

I don't need the money, but it's just sitting, and I'm looking to get a new car soon. If I can get a decent price before it gets too much colder great, if not, it can sit until next summer.

The only knock against it is it's not the "R" model or whatever they call it. 5k should be easy to get I would think.

                            Wat.

Edit: Nevermind, I forgot about the whole R6r vs R6s thing in 2006.

It does still have Texas tags...

$4k and I'll throw in the rear stand and battery tender.

If you're serious Kyle, it's worth time and $$$ not to have to title it here in CA. You guys are on the coast in Oregon right? If so, swing through Sac on your way home, and I'll make you a deal.

I don't care to give it away, but I'd rather a friend capitalize on a quick sale price than some NorCal stranger.
