  • Hard to find valve shims

I am trying to find some valve shims for my '79 KZ 750 twin. The actual measurements that I am looking for are 32mm x 2.45mm. This would have me on the tight side, but within tolerance. I would gladly accept 32mm x 2.40mm as well. These would have me on the loose side, but they will eventually tighten up with enough miles. These are "over the bucket" shims.

I am contemplating getting some shimmed buckets from a different motor, but within the same diameter. I am not sure if this will work, though. If anyone knows another remedy I'm all ears.

If anyone knows where to find them I would greatly show my appreciation with beers or lunch.

Any hardened shim to this spec should work.

Their website shows them to be currently unavailable as they try and source a new supply.

I'm calling them anyway to see if I 'll get lucky and they find a couple in the parts bins.

Keeping my fingers crossed. There might be a N.O.S. broker with a couple shims. They're pricey, but I need them.

No, thank you. There might be a chance that a Representative at Z1 just found a couple.

I really need 2.40mm. This guy says he can get the 2.45 so I went ahead and ordered them. They will have me on the tight side and will continue to get tighter as the valve seats further in the head. I will have to check them in 5,000-7,000 miles.

It would be awesome if you found some.
