so my clutch cable broke

backed out of my spot this morn and tried to put it in first and the cable snapped and the bike stalled. FML. But at least I wasn't on the road already, and at least I made it where I was going last night.

my fault for putting off replacing a frayed cable till the last minute Looks like I'll be missing the nice weather later this week...

I had the same thing happen to my old cb500 once about 20 miles from home. I ended up starting it up and pushing it up to about 10mph and popping it in gear and then very carefully picking speeds to shift that didn't cause sudden shock to the tranny. The hardest part was trying to avoid stop signs, stoplights, or anything else that require a stop. I made it home.

Happened to me on my 954 a couple of years ago on my way to work. I yanked the cable out from the housing and found that if I pulled on it hard enough, I could open the throttle bodies. So I wrapped the frayed end around my hand, braced my forearm on the handlebar pad (db bars) and very, very carefully finished the ride to work. It happened on 2499 and I rode a few miles on 635. The bike was -1/+5 at the time, and it was very hard to modulate the throttle. It was very difficult to open the butterflies, but then when they did, it seemed to jump to 1/2 throttle. Scary shit.
